Development of Real-time Precise Orbit Determination and Prediction Software Supporting Next-generation SLR System

This study presents the development and verification of software to support a next-generation Satellite Laser Ranging(SLR) system currently under development to prepare for the changing space environment. The objective of the software is to utilize SLR data to determine orbits in real-time and predict positions to within about 25 meter position error(at 500km altitude, 30 degrees of elevation angle) for a single pass of the object through the observation area. To achieve this, the main component of the software, the dynamic model is developed to have a millimeter-level error with the commercial software Systems Tool Kit(STK) and SLR measurement model aims to be error-corrected down to the centimeter level. The verification results using STK and real data confirm the achievement of the development goals and evaluate the reliability of the model. In addition, a preliminary performance analysis was performed to confirm that precise orbit determination and prediction with sufficient reliability is possible if the initial state vector value is given precisely and a certain level of data is observed.
