Abstract: Cosmological hydrodynamical simulations have been routinely used to make predictions about the production of intacluster light, but the role of numerical resolution in the efficiency of tidal stripping is not well understood. I will explore the impact of numerical resolution on the tidal stripping of stars in cluster satellite galaxies and how the differing structural properties of field dwarf galaxies influence their tidal evolution. I will show that low-resolution simulations significantly overestimate how much mass is stripped, which can lead to a significant overestimation of the integrated and resolved properties of the intracluster as well as of low-mass galaxies in many contemporary cosmological simulations.
