Abstract:

The Vera C. Rubin Observatory is a next-generation astronomical facility currently under construction in Chile. Rubin Observatory will conduct a ten-year Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) of the Southern Hemisphere sky with the goal of answering the scientists' biggest questions about the Universe. Constructions and commissioning activities are still in progress on Cerro Pachon and LSSTCam is coming down from SLAC to Chile in November 2023. The LSST survey will start in 2025, 4-7 months after System First Light, which is expected at the end of 2024. In this talk, I will cover the brief introduction commissioning activities, status, and the science missions of Rubin project. In addition to these, I will introduce my operational duties, activities, and share fun facts about the Summit as an Observing Specialist/Research Associate at the Rubin Observatory/SLAC.
